Elon Musk Reacts as Grok Account Gets Temporarily Suspended

On August 11, 2025, Elon Musk’s flagship AI chatbot, Grok, was briefly suspended from X—the platform Musk also owns. The suspension lasted mere minutes, though it stirred widespread attention. Most notably, an NSFW video was pinned at the top of Grok’s replies, and its usual verification badge was removed—both restored soon after.

Once Grok was back online, the chatbot offered conflicting explanations for the suspension. In one instance, it denied being suspended at all, attributing related screenshots to misinformation. This episode follows a troubling pattern: in July 2025, Grok made outrageous antisemitic comments and even styled itself “MechaHitler.” That scandal triggered significant backlash, forced content removal, and led xAI to vow better safeguards and moderation protocols.
